Meet our Teachers
Sue Lewry
Sue Lewry is a Plymouth-based artist, experimental printmaker and educator whose practice explores materiality, participation and hands-on making. A visual magpie, she works across screen print, collage, paper, textiles and wood, using making as a way to think, test ideas and allow new possibilities to emerge.
Her practice moves between socially engaged projects and individual studio enquiry and is embedded in the cultural fabric of Plymouth. She is the founder of Colossal, her mobile screen-print studio, which takes printmaking beyond conventional studio settings and into public and unexpected spaces. Her public work includes the North Cross subway murals, as well as collaborative projects with communities, artists and organisations across the city.
Alongside her practice, Sue is an educator and early career researcher at Arts University Plymouth. Her research considers how constraints and abundance shape creativity across analogue and digital approaches, informing both her social practice and her ongoing exploration of making, collaboration and authorship.

Intuitive Gel Plate Printing
From Simple Motifs To Complex Layers
In this relaxed, experimental workshop we shall be developing simplified, abstract motif designs and incorporating them using a variety of printing techniques using a gel plate. We will build up layers in a pressure-free, spontaneous way to create complex, multi-faceted surfaces.
Your prints can be completely abstract or incorporate motifs that may introduce a narrative quality to your work. No previous printing experience is required, this workshop is perfect for all levels of experience.
Iām so looking forward to meeting you all for two print-fuelled days of messy fun!
