Wanda Hela Katz
Wanda is a UK based mixed media book artist and is lucky enough to call the Unesco World Heritage city of Bath in Somerset her home.
She creates hand crafted unique and exquisite one of a kind miniature books and folios using antique ephemera fragments sourced from around the globe and mixed media, leaning into the idea of repurposing and reinventing.
Working with traditional binding techniques and her own rebellious stitches, she weaves her magic to create and reinvent her own form of storytelling in book form. She works with original vintage photographs, antique papers, eco dyed textiles and inventive printing techniques, mark making, line work, stencilling and stamping.
Often working with a muted, moody, grungy colour palette, she explores ideas of disintegration and imperfection.
She calls herself “a Wabi Sabi maker of books”

Delving into the world of bookmaking and bindings
In this 2-day workshop, Wanda will guide you through the joyful chaos of creating a wild and expressive hand-bound book. You’ll experiment freely with mark-making, layering, and stitching across multiple folios to build richly textured signatures. Using intuitive methods and rebellious bindings, you’ll stitch everything together into a beautifully messy, one-of-a-kind artist book. Wanda will also bring along a selection of her own books for inspiration.
